Just thought i would say hi and i have a few questions

Hi,
I am a new recruit to "The Crimson Order." I am ready to get going with this game. I am glad they at least let us get guilds set up pre-game. I can't wait for the open beta. A little about myself: I am in my final semester of college for aerospace engineering and start work at my new job in May. I am one of the few that, i belive, have found their dream jobs. I am a black belt in two martial arts. I have played guitar for about 4 years now and i am married! Once this game comes out i am going to be playing it A LOT or until my wife beats me up. ;) but i have loved bioware for a long time and i have played through both kotors around 4 times each. I actually bought the laptop i currently own just to play TOR.... So lets get going and have some fun!!!!

I have a question about internet speed. Would 12mbps (1.5mBps) be sufficient to play this game or should i go to 18 mbps? I have played a lot of MMOs but they weren't graphically taxing on my computer. I never really played wow because i have been a poor college student and couldn't afford the 15 dollars a month, but now i have a great paying job and am ready to roll!

Even with a 12mbps, you'll be perfectly fine. I've seen WoW in high congestion areas use maybe 30k at a time, but usually it drops down below 10k. I can't see TOR requiring that much more than WoW.

The main issue where you'll see lag in regards to internet connection is your ping. If you're not getting a good connection to the host server it won't matter how fast your connection is, you'll still have issues. Unless you're wanting to do a ton of downloading or other high traffic activities all at the same time as you're gaming, I'd say 12 would work like a charm.

Then again if you're like me, you only feel all warm and fuzzy inside if you have the fastest available...

I think there is a very good chance that i will end up getting 18mbps just because i also like the fastest available. Once i start working, who knows, i might upgrade to 60 mbps :/, that perhaps could be a little overkill and this area the ping normally ranges from 35-55 but should be better when i move because i will be much closer to the main hub in st louis! Ya, my wife is much to strong willed to be influenced in that manner. I might be able to talk her into it, it would probably be easier if i could find some friends locally that play.
